Following the discussion on beat.web!410 (merged), this merge request refactors the content of the raw data access part to allow testing of the concept with beat/beat.web> and also provides an example of database with the option enabled.

This one is required for the latest work for the beat.web!410 (merged) merge request to be pushed.
