First, you need to choose between one of the environments that we have available. You can use the command below to list the environments that we already have:```sh$ /idiap/resource/software/bob/bin/conda env list# conda environments:#v262py27 /idiap/resource/software/bob/envs/v262py27v262py35 /idiap/resource/software/bob/envs/v262py35v270py27 /idiap/resource/software/bob/envs/v270py27v270py35 /idiap/resource/software/bob/envs/v270py35root /idiap/resource/software/bob```You should use one of `v...` (e.g. `v270py27`) environments for your experiments always.Once these environments are created, they will not change and stay frozen so that you can rely on them.If you a problem with one these environments, you can only request for a new environment to be created. Then, you would have to activate the environment that you want to use. For example:```sh$ source /idiap/resource/software/bob/bin/activate v270py27```> Note: you need to activate the environment each time you have a new terminal open and you want to use this environment.Once you have activated your environment, you can start using this environment by typing `python`.You can also use `IPython` if you prefer (this is recommended for beginners). [IPython](http://ipython.org) offers automatic TAB completion and an interactive plotting environment (thanks to [Matplotlib](http://matplotlib.org/)): ```sh$ ipython...```You can create self configured python scripts with this simple framework:```python#!/usr/bin/env /idiap/resource/software/bob/envs/v270py27/bin/pythonimport bob.io.base# use bob.io.base...```Don't forget to make your new script executable (`chmod a+x myscript.py`) and you should be set to go.Proceed and read other detailed information in our [user guide](http://www.idiap.ch/software/bob/) from our website. In particular, you may find interesting to learn [how to package and distribute your own Bob extensions into extension packages](https://www.idiap.ch/software/bob/docs/bob/bob.extension/stable/).### Issues with local buildoutsIf you have issues with your local buildout, bootstrapping from a conda environment, here are some things to be attentive at:1. Use `bob.buildout` version 2.0.17 or superior: ```sh $ ls -d eggs/bob.buildout* eggs/bob.buildout-2.0.16-py2.7.egg ``` If you find an earlier version, please clean-up your package (e.g. with `git clean -ffdx`) and re-start from scratch.
